My Process

Layout of a house

The creative process for all my pieces begins with sketches both visual and textual.

One of my most recent team projects is on creating and illustrating myths and legends. It is being done in collaboration with a fellow artist, Ema Lauren Cadacio. It involves research of various mythologies and cultures, the creation of unique painting surfaces, and language-developing skills.

Another recent illustration I worked on, the goals of which were exploring digital art and working with imported textures and brushes made from scratch. Yet the illustration took a lot of sketching and planning to get the poses and the set-up of the room to work.

This is an older illustration I created, however, it also involved research and story set-up. In the future, it might become an illustrated children’s book because I have created small background stories for each of the foxes in the piece.

The process of creating jointed dolls of my characters from scratch is explained more in-depth under “Dolls” in my “Selected Works” section, yet here is a small layout of what form those projects take. They begin with sketches and calculations and then slowly evolve into an elaborate dolls that can move and even stand on their own.

My books are created in a way similar to my artwork. They begin with inspiration, outlines, little drafts, and character ideas, and I work through them in this manner, making them more and more complex. Timelines, battlefields, maps, house layouts, character designs, language development, and landscape set-up all constitute each of my books.
