Hello and welcome!
I am Anna Vyshegorodtseva, a Russian, American-based artist currently working on my bachelor’s degree in Illustration at the School of Visual Arts, in Manhattan.
My main fields of artistic work are fantasy illustration and creative writing. However, I have done projects which involved sculpture, wall painting, animation, and many other mediums and surfaces. I am always open to more exploration of materials and forms of artistic work.
As a writer and illustrator, I have been working in my own fantasy world since I was ten years old, and it has become my voice and my creative outlet. It has been absorbing my personal experiences and my imagination for many years now and has evolved to become a complex, intricate universe that holds over two hundred different characters of about seven races, some of which are my original creation, and a land with climates ranging from warm mountainous seashores and volcanic plains to cold woodland hills and marshes of the north.
This world, originally set to be an escape from our own, is now a reflection of our lives. Cultural differences, wars, politics, family matters, friendships, character growth – it all happens to us, and it all happens in this fantasy. This is why this world is a major theme in my art.
